Intrepid Travel is expanding its food tour offerings into Eastern Europe in 2016 with its “Real Food Adventures,” introducing travelers to home-cooked meals, street food and local food markets in four countries. The first trip, to Slovenia and Croatia, leaves May 29 (from $2,119) and the second, to Montenegro and Macedonia, on June 9 (from $1,647), destinations where “slow food” is a way of life. Both 10-day tours include culinary and cultural highlights.

On the Slovenia and Croatia Real Food Adventure, guests will hunt for truffles in Istria, dine on slow-roasted lamb in Dalmatia and sip schnapps in Ljubljana. On the Macedonia and Montenegro trip, travelers will taste wines made locally with indigenous grapes, honey straight from beehives in the mountains, and home-smoked hams and fresh-pressed olive oils with families that have been making these products for generations.
